Marc and Calimero contribute to second place for the Netherlands

The Dutch team has started brilliantly in the Longines FEI Nations Cup competition. The title defenders were able to clinch a beautiful second place in their first nations cup of 2018, during the renowned 5* show of La Baule. Sterrehof’s Calimero and Marc contributed clearly by producing a flawless clear in the second round.

Strong team

Teamtrainer Rob Ehrens had indicated in advance that he wanted to start with a strong team to gather as many points as possible in this prestigious competition directly from the beginning. The selected four didn’t let their chef d’equipe down in the French coastal town. Already in the first round the Netherlands finished in the top of the field thanks to clear round of Frank Schuttert with Chianti’s Champion and Harrie Smolders with Don VHP Z. Calimero started well also but his 5 penalty points for a jumping and a time fault were just one too many to count. This stain was removed convincingly in the second round when they jumped perfectly clear, after which Smolders finished the job and the Netherlands finished second, just one penalty point behind the winning team of Brazil.

This result delivered the desired points for the Europe division 1 ranking and was a nice first step towards qualification for the final in Barcelona where last year the title was won by almost exactly the same Dutch team!
