The latest news from Sterrehof stud
First jumps for the 2014 draft
Six months ago we have broken in our three year old horses. A news item about this and our working method appeared earlier on this website. After their first acquaintance with the saddle and all other experiences these youngsters roamed the pastures again during the Summer period. As Winter is coming we have brought them back to the stables and also back under the saddle.
From all these promising horses we have already gathered information during their lose jumping sessions and we know how they behaved when they were broken in. In accordance with our philosophy they will now be schooled at a calm way towards their first course experience in 2018.
Also this phase of the education will be teamwork from our stable rider Edward van den Bragt and Patricia Hop. The horses are now approximately two weeks back under the saddle and Patricia is doing all the ground work -consisting of mainly lunging- and Edward rides them three times a week.
In total our 2014 draft consists now of eight youngsters, from which half is a descendant of our Grand Prix stallion Sterrehof’s Opium. In alphabetic order this means the following overview:
–Jacobus-S, son of Numero Uno out of the 1.45m classified mare Erachelle-S (s. Toulon).
–Jamaica S, son of Sterrehof’s Opium out of the 1.55m classified mare Elektra (s. Casino).
–Jerom-S, son of I’m Special de Muze out of the 1.30m classified mare Elordonne-S (s. Lord Z).
–Joel-S, son of Don Diablo HX out of the 1.35m classified mare Versina S (s. Quite Easy I).
–Joint, daughter of Sterrehof’s Opium out of the mare Desca (s. Numero Uno), from which we already have more offspring.
–Joop Junior, son of Sterrehof’s Opium (stable name Joop) out of the mare Voila (s. Corland).
–Julia, daughter of Marius Claudius out of the mare Amercan Dream W (s. Quick Star), who already gave birth to two international classified horses.
–Julisimo, daughter of Sterrehof’s Opium out of the genetically high-potential mare Victoria Star (s. Quick Star), which means she is a full sisther of Sterrehof’s Felisimo.
