Sterrehof's Baccarat also on a roll in Rome
The 85th edition of the CSIO Rome had a clear Dutch signature and our horses were able to deliver a contribution. On Friday Sterrehof’s Calimero made his debut in the Dutch team during the Nations Cup. Together with Marc Houtzager, riding in the orange jacket, Calimero started convincingly in this competition. Only a small mistake at the last fence prevented a flawless round. In the second round the Dutch champions were at their best. As the last combination of the Orange squad they finished smoothly the preparatory job of Gerco Schröder and Jur Vrieling and secured the second spot for the Netherlands behind home nation Italy.
Congrats
In the Grand Prix it was Sterrehof’s Baccarat who showed himself at the beautiful Piazza di Siena. Together with Marc he delivered a clear round in this competition that is known as a classic in international show jumping. In the decisive winning round they had to start early and had two fences down. A neat tenth place in a strong field of fifty competitors was their reward. Similar to the Nations Cup compatriots Schröder and Vrieling were like Marc in a good shape with their horses. Gerco ended at place six and Jur even managed to win this Grand Prix with VDL Glasgow van het Merelsnest. A big congrats for him and owner VDL Stud!
