The latest news from Sterrehof stud
Four colts, a filly and three mares in foal
The breeding season of 2017 brought us five foals. Two of them are bred by ourselves and the other three were purchased. Besides this we expect three foals next year, all of them from the same mare.
Looking at our own breeding we can at first mention the colt from Diamant de Semilly and our talented mare Henna S (picture), a daughter from Sterrehof’s Opium and Sterrehof’s Ushi. Like with Henna herself we also used embryo transfer as breeding technique with this foal. On the other hand we have a colt from Sterrehof’s Opium that has been given birth by his own mother, the well-known Sterrehof’s Pherna (s. Calvados). For this 20 year old grand lady, who achieved a lot in the sport, it will be her last foal
The three foals that we have purchased are two colts and one filly. One of the colts (breeder H. van Heerde) is by Eldorado van de Zeshoek and the interesting broodmare Victoria Star (s. Quick Star). From Victoria Star we already have offspring, namely Sterrehof’s Felisimo and Happy Boy. The other colt (breeder F. van Straaten) is from the talented BWP stallion Jenson van ’t Meulenhof (s. Vagabond de la Pomme) and the mare Fierra (s. Baloubet du Rouet). The filly (breeder G. Kouw) we mentioned is a daughter from top stallion Berlin and the broodmare Desca. We’er also familiar with the offspring of this mare from Numero Uno as we already own Ivo-C and Joint, both from the combination Desca and Sterrehof’s Opium.
Centolina and Ushi
For the coming year we can look forward to the offspring of Sterrehof’s Centolina. From this mare, who performed successfully in the international sport but now retired, we expect three foals in 2018. Centolina herself is in foal by Eldorado van de Zeshoek and through embryo transfer we have two foster mares pregnant by Dominator Z and Aganix du Seigneur. Besides Centolina also Sterrehof’s Ushi has retired from the sport. We will use this genetically high-quality mare again next year for our breeding.
